I am a Psychotherapist and Complementary Health Therapist.  The integrative model of psychotherapy I am trained in means that I am not restricted to one style of therapy but draw upon a blend of the most recognised and accepted therapy styles,techniques and interventions. I have continued to add to my core training with further qualifications and studies in specialised orientations. I have numerous Complementary Health Therapy Qualifications but this is not the focus of my practice, more like a bonus add-on.

Transpersonal Therapy

Transpersonal therapy is a type of therapy that doesn't focus on a person's body and mind, but on the health of a person's spirit. This type of therapy puts an emphasis on a person's spiritual path or spiritual enlightenment during his life. The word “transpersonal” loosely translates to beyond the self and so beyond the physical realm.  It is a type of therapy that focus's on the health of a person’s spirit.

Psychosynthesis works to uncover a person's inner wisdom, focusing on the exploration of feelings, thoughts, sensations and spiritual aspect of the human conditon, in order to uncover any internal conflicts and blocks to contentment.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy

REBT aims to address irrational thoughts, assumptions and beliefs that are leading to ways of living that might be causing issues in a persons life.

This approach is often seen as a deeper level of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Evolutionary-based  Psychotherapy

This approach incorporates evolutionary explanations and guidance for psychological, emotional, inter-personal and behavioral issues and tendencies.

By understanding the evolutionary aspect of the human condition, therapy that involves this can help us understand why we behave or think the way that we do.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT is a psychotherapy technique based on the ancient Meridian system used in traditional eastern medicine, just like in acupuncture. Uusing a particular tapping technique, this works to clear the emotional block — from your body's bioenergy system.  By doing this, the aim is that this restores the mind /body's balance, which is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease.

Nutrition

Psychotherapy around nutrition with me supports a person to alter attitudes around food and eating. With the nutritional qualification I have, this enables me to include science to re-enforce my therapeutic stance rather than the popular dietary ideas which often do not address the deeper issues.

Journal Therapy

Many people benefit from writing things down in various forms and journal writing is a particular way of writing which is done in a way that enables a person to express feelings in a non-threatening place to work out relationships, a path to self-awareness and knowledge and journalling can help in decision making, creative problem solving and is a healthy place to release feelings.

Sleep /Insomnia Therapy

Sleep problems and insomnia are a common problem for our times and the reasons for sleep problems span far and wide and build up a complexity of interwoven factors.

If out sleep is not good, we usually don't feel at our best and this alone can cause emotional, physical or psychological issues.
In addition, some mental health problems can cause sleep problems and so more and more often, people are turning to therapy to improve their sleep. 

Eco-Therapy

I sometimes use the ideas from Eco-Therapy style to inform some of my Psychotherapy and at times myself and clients have taken sessions outdoors or taken part in community activities.

Inter-personal

Inter-personal therapy is about how we communicate with other people.  Therapy around this aims to give you skills and techniques to improve relationships with people in your life.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of oils derived from flowers used on the body or in the air to improve well-being of the body or mind. Olbas oil to clear nasal mucus and lavender oil to encourage sleep are general examples of how essential oils can be used in every day health and well-being.

Massage

Massage can be a powerful healer of emotional or physical pain. 
It is commonly used in back pain and for de-stressing. At my practice I might bring in massage to release physical tension in the upper back, neck, shoulders and scalp.

Reflexology

Reflexology is massage and manipulation of trigger /reflex points in the feet to aid relaxation and promote well-being.

It works by stimulating healing in the bodily systems.
