Interventions and Therapy Styles I use...

Integrative Therapy

As I am an integratively trained therapist I am not restricted to one style of therapy.  This does not mean I pick and choose a style, it means that the styles are integrated.

Listed here are some of the ways I work to promote the development of personal identity,  authenticity, emotional balance and tackle or manage mental Health issues by reducing physical and mental distress.

Psychodynamic
Therapy

Seeks to discover how unconscious thoughts affect current behaviour and these are usually formed in childhood.

Understanding how one came to be the way that we are can go a long way towards the self understanding that gives a person authenticity.  The techniques which can be used can be free association, interpretation, and transference.

Jungian Analytical
Therapy

This psychoanalytical approach aims to bring into balance the parts of a person's psyche which are conscious and unconscious.

This enables a person to understand how these part of themselves influence their life and the living of it.

As a whole this type of work explores the psychological parts of us that makes us specifically the human-being.

Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
& Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT)

Mindfulness CBT joins up your thinking, feelings, behaviours and focus's the changes you need to make to cope with life and life's difficulties and challenges.

REBT aims to address irrational thoughts, assumptions and beliefs that are leading to ways of living that might be causing issues in a persons life.

Hypnotherapy & NLP

Alongside physical and emotional intervention, hypnotherapy and meditation start to tackle the mind and it's tendancy to ruminate, worry and think irrationally.  These practices enable people to access their emotional areas in a safe way which helps self understanding.

NLP combines cognitive behavioural and humanistic therapies with hypnotherapy. It works on the theory that life experiences, from birth onwards, programme the way a person sees the world.

Gestalt Therapy

This type of therapy emphasizes personal responsibility, and focuses upon the individual's experience in the present moment, the therapist–client relationship, the environmental and social contexts of a person's life, and the self-regulating adjustments people make as a result of their overall situation.

Transactional Analysis & Interpersonal Therapy

If you are struggling with how other people in your life are making you feel then therapy around relationships and your functionning in them and how others affect you can help make necessary changes to your stress levels.

Transpersonal & Psychosynthesis Approaches

The word “transpersonal” loosely translates to beyond the self and so beyond the physical realm.  It is a type of therapy that focus's on the health of a person’s spirit.

Psychosynthesis works to uncover a person's inner wisdom, focussing on the exploration of feelings, thoughts, sensations and spirit in order to uncover any internal conflicts and blocks.

Person Centered

This style is based on the idea that each person has within them the skill to heal in their own way and so allows the person to lead in their own therapy.

It is based very much in reality and works by facilitating a therapeutic environment which allows a persons inner drives to direct healing.

Existential Therapy

Existential Therapy is a philisophical type of therapy based on the idea that much of human anxiety and distress is based on our inability to accept our mortality.

This involves living with life's paradox's rather than focussing on personal pathology and is based around humnan existence as it is.

Psychotherapeutic Coaching

Psychotherapy is not all about negative stuff.  Much of therapy can be enjoyable as you gain self understanding, acceptance, self empowerment and self esteem.

Reflexology

Sometimes, physical intervention is needed to intercept the cycle of stress problems.

Many health therapies can improve physical symptoms such as stress related headaches, insomnia, high BP, skin conditions, ISB and skin conditions.

Eco-Therapy

I sometimes use the ideas from Eco-Therapy style to inform some of my Psychotherapy and at times myself and clients have taken sessions outdoors or taken part in community activites.

Nutrition

Counselling and Psychotherapy around nutrition with me supports a person with ailments and conditions and is complementary to any medicial management a person is receiving.  Often problems with over eating subside after full psychotherapy where it deals with deep emotions and processing.

Complementary Therapies

I encourage  Complementary Therapies and people can access the best physical intervention to suit them best.
This could include Massage, Reiki
 and others
