Interventions and Therapy Styles I use...

As I am an integratively trained therapist I am not restricted to one style of therapy.  This does not mean I pick and choose a style, it means that the styles are integrated. Below are some of the ways I work to support people to tackle, reduce and manage mental Health issues, promote personal identity and development or reduce physical symptoms of distress. All talking therapies go a very long way to create emotional and intellectual balance, reduce stress, anxiety & depression.

Humanistic Therapies

I draw upon Humanistic styles of therapy which include:
-Gestalt Therapy
-Existential Therapy
-Human Givens
-Person Centred Therapy -Psychosynthesis
-Reality Therapy -Transactional Analysis and

These involve working in the here and now, is based very much in reality, taps into our inner needs and wants, addresses how we communicate with others and also draws upon philosophy of life.

Seeks to discover how unconscious thoughts affect current behaviour and these are usually formed in childhood.  Understanding how one came to be the way that we are can go a long way towards the self understanding that gives a person authenticity.  The techniques which can be used can be free association, interpretation, and transference.

...is not psychoanalysis

Psychoanalytical based Therapy aims to bring the conscious and unconscious processes into awareness which helps a person to feel more balanced. This enables a person to understand how these thoughts, beliefs and feelings are influencing themselves and their life.

Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy

REBT aims to address irrational thoughts, assumptions and beliefs that are leading to ways of living that might be causing issues in a persons life.

Neural Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP combines cognitive behavioural and humanistic therapies with hypnotherapy. It works on the theory that life experiences, from birth onwards, programme the way a person sees the world.

Mindfulness based CBT

Mindfulness CBT joins up your thinking, feelings, behaviours and focus's the changes you need to make to cope with life and life's difficulties and challenges.

Relationship Therapy

Relationship Therapy aims to alter dysfunctional ways of operating in relationships so as to improve how one feels in them and relate to others better, especially in close relationships.

Alongside physical and emotional intervention, hypnotherapy and meditation start to tackle the mind and it's tendancy to ruminate, worry and think irrationally.  These practices enable people to access their emotional areas in a safe way which helps self understanding

Sometimes, physical intervention is needed to intercept the cycle of stress problems.

Many health therapies can improve physical symptoms such as stress related headaches, insomnia, high BP, skin conditions, ISB and skin conditions.

Psychotherapeutic Coaching

Psychotherapy is not all about negative stuff.  Much of therapy can be enjoyable as you gain self understanding, acceptance, self empowerment and self esteem.

Interpersonal Therapy

If you are struggling with how other people in your life are making you feel then therapy around relationships and your functionning in them and how others affect you can help make necessary changes to your stress levels.

I sometimes use the ideas from Eco-Therapy style to inform some of my Psychotherapy and at times myself and clients have taken sessions outdoors or taken part in community activites.

Counselling and Psychotherapy around nutrition with me supports a person with ailments and conditions and is complementary to any medicial management a person is receiving.  Often problems with over eating subside after full psychotherapy where it deals with deep emotions and processing.

Complementary Therapies

I work closely with Complementary Therapist's to enable people to access the best physical intervention to suit them best.

This can include Massage, Reiki
 and others
